Doggie blog for the humans to read while their doggies are visiting my house:

Feb 5: Full house this weekend! We have Cockers Rufus and Bobbi. We also have Sophie the Portuguese Water Dog and Jade the Great Dane puppy. I decided to take the day off from work so I could hang out with the gang. Jade is being excellent. No potty accidents and no chewing. She's been a angel. She'll even sit and shake for me. Sophie and Rufus are always good. Bobbi is my snuggler. He's been snuggling with me all day. If you're having a bad day, Bobbi will always make it better. Rain rain go away - Bobbi and Jade don't like the rain. Both pooped on the patio instead of going out into the rain. LOL

Dec 20:Finally!! I haven't been able to logon. I have the stomach flu and have been in bed most of the week. Solomon's mom is on her way back. We have Sophie the Portugese Water Dog and her housemate Jade, the 3 month old Great Dane. Jade does quite a bit of sleeping. Think the older dogs are teaching her to be lazy.

Dec 9: Solomon the chocolate Cocker came over Monday night. He is staying most of December while his mommy visits family for the holidays. He thought we were going back to bed this morning after he was let outside. I wish. It was rainy and dark so he had the perfect idea. He's on a strict diet. It's so sad to eat in front of him. He stares at you with his soulful eyes like he hasn't had a meal in weeks. I don't cave in though!!

Nov 28: Basha went home last night. Dora was bored today. She was determined to stand in front of the TV so my remote wouldn't work. I felt bad and she was right. I WAS spending too much time being lazy. We went to the dogpark. It was a beautiful sunny day and about 60 degrees. Dora LOVED it. We stayed about 2.5 hours. Dora's a greeter. Whenever a new dog arrives at the gate, she runs to the gate to greet them when they walk in the dogpark. One dog didn't particularly like her in his space so he chased her across the park. She's so good natured, she yelped, ran over to me for some petting and moved on to other business. She was careful around that dog and continued her greeting at the gate. She's already asking to go tomorrow.

Nov 27:Yawn.....lazy day again. It's almost 11am and we're watching TV in bed again. Watched the "The Ugly Truth". Cute movie.

Nov 26:Hope everyone had a wonderful turkey day. We spent most of the day watching TV in bed. Dora and Basha are with us. The two have been trying to play with each other but have different play styles. Dora play growls (I suspect she learned this from Java) and it scares Basha. Basha likes to smack her mouth like she's catching imaginary flies. Dora just stares at her. Hopefully they'll get in sync this weekend and get some good playtime in. Basha looks like she's lost some weight. She gets REALLY excited when she sees people food. I just give her a little taste so we don't mess up her diet. Dora wants to sit in my lap. She's too big to be a lap dog. She'll stand on the coffee table and stare at me. She knows this will get my attn b/c I can't see the TV. She's a smart dog.

Oct 11: Another restful night and day. Dogs had access to inside/outside last night. When I woke up, the patio was littered with stuffed toys - Zinnie's doing. Blizzard stayed in bed and didn't even get up with me. She loves these lazy days. Zinnie is trying to teach Oreo to play. Oreo was caged at a breeders his first year of life so he didn't learn proper socialization. He is trying to learn how to play. Blizzard and Zinnie did some brief wrestling on the patio this morning. I gotta run some errands today so the dogs should be on camera soon. Blizz and Zinnie go home today. Chloe, Legend and Basha visit this week.

Oct 10: Blizzard arrived yesterday. Zinnia loves her. Zinnie follows her everywhere. She tries to get Blizz to play. They disappeared for awhile and I found them on the dog beds in the kitchen gently wrestling. When Blizz is napping, Zinnie pulls all the toys out of the toybox and tosses them in the air. She's very good playing alone. Today we've been chillin in bed all day. Chevy's former mom and human brother came by to visit tonight. Chevy was so excited to see them. He showed them all his toys and he took them to all the rooms. He was prancing around until he was exhausted. He cried when they left. He's laying next to me getting special time so he knows I love him. He's such a good boy.

Oct 4:Zinnia and Chevy went to the dogpark again this morning. Spent about an hour there. We left when Zinnia slowed down and decided to chew up bark instead of running. We spent the rest of the day relaxed at home. Temps are cool so I left my back door open. Zinnia decided the stuffed toys needed some sun so she dropped them outside on the patio. She loves going in/out of the house. All the dogs enjoyed watching a huge crow in the front yard. None of them barked and stood quietly at the storm door and just watched. Zinnia is going home tonight and coming back later this week. Cooper, Lucy and Blizzard will be here also. Those 4 will enjoy playing together.

Oct 3:Zinnia spent two hours at the dog park last night and about an hour there this morning. She loves all dogs and humans. She ran some errands with me after the park. Kent and I went to the International Festival today while the doggies slept at home. When we got home, Kent sat on my patio playing Iphone games while all the dogs took a nap on the bricks. It looked like it rained dogs. I shaved my dogs inside of their ears tonight. Zinnia was very interested and wanted hers done too. I had to tell her she's not a fru-fru dog who gets haircuts and ribbons in her hair. I do like her coat color - dark auburn with dark brown low lights. Thinking about the color for myself this winter. We're going to the dogpark again tomorrow at 11am.

Oct 1: 4 dogs had a vet appt today so Zinnia and Chevy were the only ones home. Bad news is Giz might still have pneumonia. Zinnia was very good again. She's not chewing anything except her toys. She's very quiet too - no barking at little noises. We've been trying to get to the dogpark but it hasn't worked out the last two nights. We will try our best to get there tomorrow.

Sept 30: Zinnia the web-footed red lab mix is staying with us through the weekend. She is young so we're testing her today to see if she chews up my new doggie beds. I checked the webcam and she's been a little angel sleeping. We're trying to make it to the dogpark tonight.

Sept 13: Doggies are going home today. Sophie and Murphy have left. Sophie the PWD is leaving later tonight. Legend came over for a shave today. Never shaved anyone else's dog. I shave my own to save money. I have multiple clippers, oil, blades and combs. Thinking about adding shaving services to my website. It's all for a good cause. I'll probably get a new foster soon. Lucy, my recent foster was officially adopted last week. She was adopted locally so I'll see her again. Solomon is enjoying a lazy Sunday. He was playing with Hallee the puppy earlier. It was cool outside this morning so I left my back door open and they were running in/out of the house. I've been busy working around the house. My back hurts right now so he and the others are laying with me on my bed. Thinking about a Sunday nap. I have the new Nicholas Sparks book, The Last Song, so I may read that. Nicholas lives in NC - that's why all his books are set on the beaches of NC.

Sept 11: I'm remembering 9-11 today. RIP. Another busy, full weekend with doggies. We have Solomon the chocolate Cocker, Sophie the Bulldog, her housemate Murphy the MinPin, Hallee the puppy Beagle/Dachshund mix and Sophie the Portugese Water Dog. The PWD is now a famous breed thanks to the Obama puppy. We had a mishap tonight. Hallee was running circles around the back yard while Soph, Murphy and Solomon chased her. Went on for about 15 minutes then I noticed blood on the ground. Sophie's rear leg toenail fell off. No big deal. Stop the bleeding and it will grow back. Upon closer inspection, the break is below the skin so I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow. I'm guessing the vet won't do anything b/c you can't seal an open wound b/c of infection but I want a professional opinion. My coworker's foster dog, Hallee is so darn cute. She's up for adoption and will go quickly. I just love looking at her face. Solomon is doing well. He loves to eat. I can hear him surfing the kitchen counters looking for food within reach. He likes to sleep in a doggie bed on my bed. He's a good sleeper. His mom takes him frequently to the dog park but he hasn't gone since he's been here. My house is a dogpark these last few weeks. Tonight definitely was a dog park until we had the toenail mishap.

Sept 6: Bobbi has definitely come out of his shell. He ate all of his breakfast today so the food strike is over. I did give him a ham sandwich yesterday. He's being playful with toys. I've noticed if I disappear outside or run an errand, when I come home, he grabs a toy and carries it around to celebrate me coming home. Bobbi's been a Cassanova toward Solomon. He follows Sol around and his little tail wags with happiness. He's also sticking up for himself. My blind Cocker, Gizmo, ran into him so he jumped on Giz thinking it was a confrontation. When Bobbi heard me, he stopped. Solomon wasn't so good. He jumped in and started attacking Giz too. Sol wouldn't stop so I had to pick Giz up to remove him. Sol went into time out. Poor Giz, most dogs attack him when he bumps into them. We got a record 8 dogs on the bed and me last night. I couldn't move but I still fit on the bed. I couldn't move the covers either so I had to get a second blanket. There's toy stuffing everywhere in the house. I'll have to sweep before vacuuming. My vacuum broke on Thursday so I'm going to Sears today to get a new one. Wonder which toy Bobbi will choose to bring me when I come home.

Sept 4: My dogwalker called it Cockapulooza here. I love it. Rufus (Mojo) was soooo happy to see Kent again. When he first walked in, he was investigating and smelling other doggies. Then he noticed Kent on the couch and his little tail started wagging furiously. Rufus's housemate, Bobbi, is shy but incredibly sweet. He's been following me around and jumps on the bed to sit with me. He was putting his paw on my foot earlier. I'm guessing he gets foot rubs at home. Prior to tonight he would sit near the front door and watch for his family to return. He's not eating his food in protest of being left behind. He did eat his salami and a few pieces of pork. He likes his treats. Mojo has been busy tearing up toys along with Cooper and Lucy. Cooper and Lucy are testing out all the toys and seeing which ones are best to tug with. So far the rope toy is a clear winner. Wait till their humans see the mess they've created. There's toy carcasses everywhere. Solomon is more low key compared to the delinquents. He mostly watches and is the occasional Cassanova. He decided to eat my toilet paper tonight. Sol's been eating his food and then throwing it up in a corner. He then guards it. My goodness it is the foulest smell. I don't think he's sick - I think he likes the game.

Sept 3:Labor Day weekend!! Termite people came by for a follow-up inspection and I renewed my license plate. It was 72 degrees outside so I decided to take the rest of the day off from work. It's going to be a Cocker Spaniel weekend. 8 Cockers, 1 Cockapoo and Lucy the questionable mix. Stay tuned!

Aug 22: Blizzard and Legend are here so things are calm. Blizz was a very active puppy and now she's grown into a calm, classy gal. Legend is older so she fits in well with our crew. Kent bought us a grill and grilled hotdogs and chicken last night. Dogs were in heaven. Blizz enjoyed her hotdogs. Didn't have buns so I used bread and cut them into 2inch treats. Lucy is on an extended sleepover at the Higgins home. People at work seem to like my fosters that I name after Peanuts characters. Sarah adopted Charlie Brown and the Higgins's are smitten with Lucy. Labor Day will be a full house and looks like it will be Cocker central. I have my 5 Cockers and 3 guest Cockers - Solomon, Rufus (formerly my foster,Mojo)and his housemate Bobbie.

Aug 9: No rain today!!!!! BUT it felt like over 100 degrees outside. Basha, Poncho and Lucy went to the dog park at 7:30 tonight. My face was dripping sweat and my sunglasses were fogging up. I was miserable. I was getting irritated at dog owners who don't restrain dogs that attack other dogs. One lady decided to follow me and try to train her growly dog using my 6 month old foster. I don't want Lucy to be fearful of dogs so I politely walked away whenever she came near. I was not smiling though. The dogs had fun. Basha went to the little dog side and chased Gracie, a little white terrier with lightning speed. Lucy can't catch her either. Both burned calories trying though. Once the sun went down I was more comfortable and in a better mood.

Aug 8: Rain Rain go away! Still raining daily. Still busy dogsitting. Basha is still here. She and Lucy enjoy playing daily. Basha will roll over on her back so Lucy has the upper hand wrestling It's cute b/c Lucy's so small she looks more like she's riding Basha like a horse - her little short legs do not touch the ground. Lucy would make a great addition to Basha's household. Cross your fingers. Everyone who meets Lucy falls in love with her so I'm sure she'll be adopted quickly and adopted locally. I took her to work yesterday and she was perfect. She was quiet (unheard of with pupppies!) and didn't make a peep when I left my desk area. She's so darn cute - I have to convince myself not to keep her!!! I have too many dogs as it is. PONCHO joined us yesterday. His family is on vacation for the week. Poncho's former mom called me saying she had a Cocker with an injury that she needed to surrender. When I arrived I saw a flea and tick infested dog with a 3-4 inch circular piece of skin flapping on his neck. It looked like he was scalped!! Poncho healed nicely and turned out to be a very striking, beautiful Cocker. So nice to see doggies I've rescued after they've been adopted. You can see how much healthier and happier they are. This week look for a chocolate Cocker, Solomon, sleepover on Monday. Ernie the black mix puppy is coming over Tues for a week. He's VERY playful so Lucy will enjoy him.

Aug 2: Looks like rain again. We cannot stop sleeping today. Java, Blizzard and Lady are going home today. They'll be well rested.

Aug 1: I have a new foster puppy!! I was at the vet buying Cooper dog food when a man walked in with a stray he found. I told him if he couldn't find the owner, I would take her and find her a home. I got a call from him 2 days later. She's about 6 months old and cute as anything. She is black with big ears that bend over. She has Corgi legs. She weighs 19 pounds. Loves other dogs and people. Very happy and energetic puppy. She spent this entire week in quarantine at Kent's house. Now that she's vaccinated and cleared to be around other dogs, she is at my house. I named her Lucy since the last stray I got I named Charlie Brown. Lucy, Blizzard and Java went to the dog park tonight. Lucy was scared but walked around investigating. A little white dog came about an hour later and went into the little dog side so I put Lucy over there. She and the white dog chased each other like they were on a dog track chasing a bunny. She was a hit among the dog owners. I'm hoping someone at the dog park adopts her. Blizzard socialized and kept it low key. Java played the most but was distressed when I went to the little dog side. He stood at the fence and cried the entire time. Actually about 3 or 4 big dogs lined up at the fence watching the little dogs play. By the time we left, there were 5 little dogs playing together. Lucy Lu was worn out.

July 29: It's been a relaxing week. Seems like it rains every day. Tonight Blizzard, Chevy and Oreo went to the dog park. It was breezy and relaxing for me. Not sure what it is about the dogpark but it calms me. Blizzard did her usual socializing with all dogs. She does not discriminate. Big day tomorrow. Lots o' dogs coming.

July 26: Friday: Puppy Ace was here to spice up the day. All dogs were left loose in the kitchen. It was play group all day long and all night. Ace went home around 11pm.

Today: Cooper went home after 3 weeks. His mommy met us at the dogpark. It was around 1pm and in the 90s. The park was empty. Cooper was happy to see his mommy. Blizzard and Oreo enjoyed the park. When it got too hot, Blizzard was at the exit gate barking to go home. Boring without Cooper here so we got a nice nap in today.

While I was buying Cooper some dog food at the vet Saturday, a man walked in with a stray little dog that followed him home. He was checking to see if she was microchipped. He mentioned taking her to the SPCA. SPCA is a good place but is not a no-kill facility. In the meantime she was on her back meeting the other dogs in the clinic. I offered to take her. He's taking her in for shots tomorrow and then I pick her up. I just cannot say no to a doggie in need. She's a cutie so she should be adopted quickly.

July 22: It's been rainy the last few days and all the playful dogs have gone home. Cooper must be bored out of his mind b/c he's chewing up stuff again. I've had a migraine for 2 days so I left work a few hours early. I brought Ace home from work so his daddy could go on boys night ping pong. Cooper and Ace played the entire time. It was good for both of them. They were playing under my bed while I was napping. Alls I could hear was thumping from their heads hitting the underside of my bed. Silly dogs. Off to bed now hoping I'll wake up migraine free.....

July 19: Chevy came home from his sleepover today. Jax got to play for a bit. He enjoyed the other dogs. Chevy curled up with Chris on the couch. Jax got into a minor spat with Cooper. Chris and Liz were looking at the termite damage in my bedroom before they left. My blind Giz could smell Chris left the living room. Giz climbed up on my bed thinking Chris was there to take a nap. It was cute. Coney and Jack went home today. Blizzard has been an angel. Minor setback with Coops. He chewed up Kent's shoe last night. We caught him before he caused major damage. During the night he chewed the zipper off another dogbed. Today he chewed my backrest pillow. If I take my eyes off of him, he becomes destructive. I could crate him but that's no fun for him. Right now he's muzzled!! It's a wire muzzle so he'll be able to open his mouth and drink water. He just looks like Hannibl Lector.

July 18:Yesterday: Jack, Oreo, Chevy and Gizmo went to work with me. Chevy went on a sleepover at the Knout's house. Dogpark at my house!! No need to go to the dogpark this weekend b/c I have a house full. We had Ace visiting for a few hours after work, Legend, Blizzard, Lady, Coney and Jack, and Cooper. Lady was a bit nervous when Cooper and Ace were chasing each other so we put her in the front of the house. It also rained. Lady is terrified of storms but seems to do ok when other dogs are around show her there's no need to be nervous. Ace is almost 7months old and a cutie. He curled up with me while I watched TV. Jack isn't bossy when he's surrounded by many dogs. He's been very good. Lady has been doing some flirting with Coney. Coney has been "attracted" to Blizzard. Non-stop attraction so I boost Blizz up on my bed so she can get away. Blizzard is entertaining me. I gave her a stuffed bunny so she could "trade" it for McDonald's breakfast. When you're eating, she'll toss her toy at you in the hopes you'll give her some food. You can toss the food - she never misses catching anything!! She is the most vocal dog I've seen too. When she's relaxed, she lets everyone know by letting out long moans. I also noticed if she's hungry, the moans are louder, longer and different octaves like she's dying. I was scratching her chest and she moaned with each stoke. She is just too funny. Kent walked over to her so I asked him what he was doing and he replied "I'm trying to get some sound effects out of her". LOL. She is such a cutie. She's not into playing with the younger dogs. She is getting on my bed if I help her. This is good to see b/c she slept in doggie beds on the floor during her last few visits. Her mom showed me pictures of Blizz riding waves at the beach!! Not many dogs will go into the ocean side at the beach. They prefer the sound side.

Today: Houston, Oreo and Lady Blue went to the groomers today. Got the boys shaved since the hottest days of summer are in Aug. Gizmo went to the vet to remove his stitches from his old man bump removal. Lady Blue's cataract surgery went well. She's following me around and getting on the bed more. Legend had problems standing up this morning so I panicked and called her mom at 6:30am. Turned out to be arthritis. I was wide awake after that. That's ok b/c I enjoy a weekend nap!! Her family picked her up this afternoon. She was here while her family had new floors put down. It's too hot outside so I have all the shades/curtains drawn to save energy and I've been lazy in bed. Jack has been under the covers. You don't know he's there until another dogs steps on him - then you hear a growl come out of nowhere.

July 12: Today is CHLOE day. Chloe arrived Friday morning and went to work with me. She's an excellent work dog b/c she's very quiet and sleeps most of the time. She doesn't like the doggie park atmosphere so she's been under the radar on the couch or bed. She likes to sit next to me. She's a sweetie. When Ernies's parents came over, Chloe got really excited and fronted Ernie for attn. I had to pick her up so Ernie could say to his family. Ernie went home last night so Cooper doesn't have a play partner. As a result, Chloe's come out of her shell and moving around more. Today is lazy dog day with all the dogs napping - even Cooper. It's very quiet around here. I'm getting sleepy too....

July 11: Last night: Ernie and Coops went to the dogpark. Their cousin, Jackson, joined them. Coops was interested in playing but sat with the humans almost the entire time. Ernie and Jackson were made for the dogpark. Both are at home and like all dogs. Jax is small but will hold his own. Park wasn't busy for a Friday night. I think it's just too hot. Ernie and Coops came home and Coops was ready to relax. Ernie kept pestering him. If Coops hides under the coffee table, Ernie drags him out by the ear. If Coops goes in his crate, Ernie pulls him out by the ear. If Ernie wants him somewhere else, he pulls him by the ear like it's a leash. Coops has met his match w/ Ernie.

Today: Woke up and it was 74 degrees outside so I rolled out of bed and loaded up Ernie and Coops. Coops jumps in the car now. Ernie looks like he wants to try but I still have to pick him up. Coops is much more comfortable in the car. No drooling anymore. They both still drag me to the dogpark gates. Houston went with us today. He doesn't go to work with me b/c he howls if he can't see me. He's a very social dog so I feel bad he's inside all the time. Ernie did he normal socializing. Coops stuck by me and visited people sitting on the benches. Houston stuck by Kent. He would wag his tail and accept petting if someone walked up to him. Not sure why he didn't seek out people like he normally does. He is getting old. A Boston Terrier full of energy came in after mine were exhausted. Jax would have had fun with this little dog. All she wanted was someone to chase her. Bostons are so darn cute.

July 9: Yesterday: Chevy the black Cocker is now part of my family. I LOVE that dog. I was trying to watch the movie "PUSH" but Cooper and Ernie decided playing in front of me was more important. They were high energy so we went to the dogpark. Ernie was afraid at first and hid under the picnic table. Hair on his back was standing up. Cooper started chasing whatever dog was closest. Coops had his tail tucked when he was chased though. Once the park got down to about 8 dogs, Ernie and Coops were playing like pros. I have TERMITES eating away my baseboard in my bedroom! Kent stuck his foot on the wood and it disintegrated. Lady Blue just had cataract surgery yesterday so I'm not sure where I'm going to pull the $ for this one. $919 was one quote for termite treatment. Ernie slept about a foot away from the infestation. Gross.

Today: Dogpark again! It was cooler so there must've been at least 20 dogs there. Ernie jumped right in this time. Coops played some but was more interested in standing by me. The skateboard park noise next door was scaring Cooper - sounded like fireworks or thunder?? Coops didn't play after that. Ernie played with any dog available and covered the entire park terrain. When it was time to leave, Ernie wouldn't come to me. I had to trick him to leash him. Great news is getting Ernie in the car is easier and Cooper hasn't drooled the last two times in the car!!! Good boys!! Both went to sleep immediately when they got home.

July 7: Ernie joined us last night. He is the best match for Cooper. They played and played until exhaustion. I was afraid Cooper was overheating so I put him in time-out to cool off. Water went in one end and came out the other on both dogs. I cleaned up lots of pee last night. No time to scratch the door to ask to go out. I crated Cooper at bedtime b/c there was no way they'd sleep the entire night. Ernie woke up every couple of hours and tried to "spring" Coops from his crate by scratching it. I crated Coops today while I was at work. Coops is the one being crated b/c Ernie is too big and Coops like to eat doggie beds. HOWEVER, Ernie chewed up a dog bed, pulled the stuffing out, tore down the gate in the kitchen, pulled a rug though the gate and chewed up a basket I use to hold the gate open. I checked the webcam a few times today and saw Ernie standing on his hind legs counter-surfing. Since he still has quite a bit of the puppyhood mischief in him, I gotta find a crate tonight for when I'm at work.

July 5: Worst holiday ever!! First time in about 2 years I've gone home for the sole purpose of visiting family. Took Gizmo since he goes everywhere w/ me. He had surgery Wed to remove a growing bump. He announced our arrival by pooping on the new carpet to show his tummy was upset. He also left a little blood spot from his surgery site on the sheets. I left early Sunday morning b/c I got tired of hearing "don't bring your dogs" and the suggestions about putting Giz to sleep. He's BLIND not dying. I CHOOSE not to have kids so these are my kids. If they are not welcome, I am not welcome. My sister's son broke several things when he visited me but I would NEVER ban him from my house. Material things are replaceable - family is not. Her 5 year old could have spilled a drink or her 5 month old could have spit up smelly white stuff on this carpet. Would she be told "next time leave the kids at home"? Hmmmmmmmm. So I leave upset. What else can happen? How about rear ending someone on the way home? The "angel" I hit rubbed my paint off her bumper and said there was no need to call the police or file a claim. Amazing how there was no damage to her Toyota Yaris rear bumper. I started crying hysterically saying I've had a bad day and told her I need a hug. The best part of my day so far has been a hug from a complete stranger. Bless you whoever you are and hopefully karma will reward you.

Java had a pretty boring week and nothing to write about until Cooper arrived on Thursday. Cooper overwhelmed Java at first. Now they're playing and having fun. Cooper seems to have matured a bit more this time. He hasn't chewed on anything and seems to be listening to me better than previous visits. My town did their fireworks July 3. We were outside on potty break. Cooper went nuts and was trying to jump my 6ft fence. I thought he was being playful until he ran to my back door and let out these blood curdling cries to get inside. Java was right behind him. I let them in and tried to give them treats and play to show fireworks were a good thing. Cooper was trying to jump over the couch and onto the kitchen counter. I realized he wanted his crate BADLY. He ran right in his crate and didn't come out. Now where's Java? He's in the tub! He stayed in the tub until the fireworks were over. Oreo and I sat in there with him. He wasn't as freaked out as Cooper but I do think they fed off each other. Kent came back from his family visit so he could watch the rest of the dogs while I visited family. It was nice coming home to see him and the rest of the gang.

June 30: Taking a personal day today to run some errands and motivate Gizmo to eat. He hasn't eaten in two days. Just ate some popcorn. Gizmo liked it. Blizzard wanted more so she tossed me a Nylabone and stood there waiting for her "gift". She's so smart. What other dog knows how to trade toys for food? Popcorn is gone so Blizz and Java are wrestling on the carpet in the bedroom. Rest of the dogs are on the bed resting. Oreo seems a little interested in the wrestling. I wish he would learn to play. He spent his first year crated at a breeders. No socialization. Took me two weeks of sitting next to him on the couch before he let me pet him. He's been with me a couple of years now.

June 29: We spent all day in bed yesterday!!! The doggies can be active and they can be lazy. I love it. Blizzard, Java and Lady played some. Oreo is trying to learn how to play. He goes up to them and isn't sure what to do so he runs away whimpering w/ his tail wagging. Kent over around 9pm and made bacon. Now the dogs are in a frenzy. Bacon for all!! Lady went home when the bacon was cooking. I watched the webcam from work and they were all lazy sleeping. Tonight was pretty relaxed too. Work was busy so I'm pretty much exhausted. Blizzard goes home tomorrow

June 27: Blizzard's birthday!!! I got rid of my 10 year old grill so no grilled hotdogs for the doggies. We may have to load up the car and go to Cookout for footlongs. The YouTube video of Zoe and Java playing is on my website under the tab "Dogsitting Video". Java's dad took it with his new Iphone.

Blizzard, Zoe and Java just got back from the dog park. Blizzard was more interested in the people instead of playing. She hung out at the picnic table with a handful of people so she could get petted. We met a beautiful Chocolate Cocker named Solomon. All 3 licked him like they thought he was an old friend. I wonder if they associate Cockers with my house. They didn't huddle around and lick the other dogs. Solomon's mom travels so hopefully he can stay with us when she's away. He would fit in well w/ our household. I know I said I wasn't taking any more clients but I can't resist a Cocker. After a hot day at the dogpark, we took the birthday party to the Cookout drive-thru. On the way home we saw Arbys had 99 cent roast beef burger so we got some of those. All doggies have full bellies now and are splattered all over my bedroom sleeping.

June 26: Today is Bring Your Dog to Work Day! Gizmo, Lady Blue and Chevy went to work with me. Kent got Zoe around 2pm and took her to his office. He works in an office park and there's about 30 companies in his bldg! She rode the elevator and let anyone pet her. She didn't bark at strangers and was a good worker. She went to everyone's office and met them. She then spent the rest of the day sleeping on the carpet in Kent's office. Lady arrived after work and will be here for the weekend. When Zoe got home it was a dogpark again. Lady is finicky. One minute she's in play the next she might bark "get away from me". She and Blizzard should get along well since Blizz is the calmer of the trio. Tomorrow is Blizzard's 2nd birthday!!!!

I tried to put a YouTube video on here and wiped out the entire blog Friday night. I was able to save some of it from another computer and I re-typed Friday's info. If you were trying to read during this time, it was jumbo mumbo for about an hour or two.

June 25: Dog Park at my house tonight!! Blizzard went home Sunday but came back today. Java came over tonight too. Zoe met him as soon as he got out of the car. Java was so excited he didn't want to wait for his daddy to unleash him. His daddy took some video on his new Iphone of them running in the yard. I'll have to post it on my website. They sound like horses running by you. Very cute to watch. When they came inside, Blizzard joined in on the wrestling. Zoe wouldn't let Java rest and was pestering him until he became uneasy. Java took a nap and started playing with her immediately after his nap. Things are ok now - he just needed a nap. Feeding time was interesting. I have to separate all 3 dogs b/c they eat different food. Zoe and Java just looked around at the other food and didn't care for their food. Blizz eats anything and eats it in seconds. I found a way to slow her down though. I was tossing the food on the floor so it took time for her to pick each piece up. I'm afraid to feed her out of a bowl b/c she eats so fast!! I'm afraid she'll choke. I took one of my plastic dog bowls and turned it upside down. Now the food is in the crevice and the bottom of the bowl slows her down - kinda looks like eating out of a bundt cake pan. Worked beautifully!! It was even a challenge b/c she had to really work at getting the last few pieces out of the bowl. I have exhausted doggies scattered all over my bedroom right now. Blizzard is groaning.

June 20: Very tired today. Good thing this is a weekend b/c Zoe, Mojo and Blizzard wanted to play all night. Mojo's a bit lazy so he did take long naps. At 4am, all 3 woke up to wrestle. There's was lots of moving, lots of growling and lots of panting. The rest of the dogs on the bed woke up, raised their heads and looked at me like "really?". I sleep with a night light so I was able to watch them.

June 19: Blizzard is having fun!! Zoe the Great Dane is here. Zoe, Blizzard and Mojo are playing bitey games. Mojo bites Blizz's ears and pulls on her face. Blizz likes to eat Mojo's head and swing her bum into Mojo's face. Zoe watched for a bit until she learned the rules. Zoe's a gentle wrestler. No one really ate tonight b/c of all the activity. Blizzard was the only one who finished her food. Hmmm wonder if they'll let me sleep tonight.

June 18: Mojo did excellent today! He said he doesn't need a crate! My dogwalker said he and Blizzard had nutty playtime outside. They did some wrestling outside when I got home. We didn't stay out long b/c it was hot. Blizzard doesn't like playing inside as much b/c the concrete floors are slick. She's doing well and is such a good looking girl. She wanted on the bed last night. She saw the 6 Cockers sprawled out on the bed so she politely went back to the doggie bed on the floor. Tomorrow will be exciting! Zoe the Great Dane is coming over for a week.

June 17: Great news today!! Mojo is being adopted locally!! I LOVE when this happens! The couple saw my last foster, Baxter when I went to the vet to pick him up. They wanted to adopt him but Baxter had already found a home. I took Mojo in yesterday for his second heartworm treatment and guess who had a vet appt again? She saw Mojo and who wouldn't fall in love with him? Weird coincidence that she's run into my last two fosters on my vet visits. It is meant to be. Mojo will go to his forever home on Monday.

Blizzard had a great day!! She's been bouncing around. She's been chasing me to the kitchen hoping I was running there to get her food. Outside, she was bouncing around trying to put Mojo's head in her mouth. Mojo played a little but wasn't too interested. Mojo went to work with me today and played w/ toys the entire day so he's tired. He's been trying to nap ever since he got home. Maybe he and Blizzard will have a better play date tomorrow. Mojo had his first day at work today and was perfect so I'm going to leave him uncrated while I'm at work tomorrow.

June 16: We have Miss Blizzard joining us this week. She gobbled up all her food in seconds so I knew she was the same ole Blizzard. But then I noticed some different behavior. We watched TV but she didn't get on the couch. That night she slept on the floor instead of the bed. I thought she was sick. She has a sore leg and I think it's making her shy or hesistant. The next day still no couch snuggling. I went into the bedroom to catch a show on my DVR and I looked over and Blizzard was on the bed!! Yipee. This is the Blizzard I know. Tonight I made pasta while watching DVR in the bedroom. I would run back and forth b/t the two rooms and Blizzard was right behind me. She outran my Cockers. Good girl.

June 13: Today was a hectic day! Kent and I went to the Sam's grand opening down the road. Dora tore a hole in her pool so I'm looking for a new, bigger pool for her next visit. My neighbor hit Kent's car. Kent's not going to fix the damage or file a claim but it sucked to see my neighbor stressing over it. Jax's humans and I went to the dog park and it felt like 115 outside. It was too hot for the dogs to play. They stayed in the shade. The park was pretty empty too. I can't wait until Fall temperatures. Blizzard's mom called while I was at the park. A lady was yelling "EXCUSE ME EXCUSE ME EXCUSE ME". She wanted me to let her in on my park pass - she left hers in her car 100ft away. Evidently this was important enough to interrupt my phone conversation. How rude and when did we get so lazy that we can't walk 100ft to get something? Or was she lying and she didn't own a pass? Someone else let her in. The park wore Cooper out! Very happy dog. Cooper needs a puppy for a pet. Blizzard came over tonight. I remember when Blizzard was active like Cooper. She is now so calm and quiet. She usually lets out high pitched barks when I go out of sight. I went into the garage several times, sprayed weed killer on my patio and not a peep from Blizzard. She is no longer the active puppy. All the dogs I have now like to sleep so tomorrow will be a lazy day and maybe I'll rent some DVDs. Sophie has been a good sport today. She couldn't go to the dog park b/c of the heat. She's a bulldog and shouldn't be exposed to heat for long periods. She was happy to see me when I got home. She was positive the Wendy's Toffee Frosty I brought home was for her. If you like toffee, I recommend the new Frosty. TONS of toffee chips mixed in. Murphy broke out of his shell tonight. He was sitting on the couch next to Sophie and me. I put the clothes right out of the dryer on him and he tried to crawl inside the pile. I felt bad folding the clothes and breaking down his fort. Now we're off to clear out the DVR in the bedroom..... nite nite from Blizzard, Sophie, Murphy, Mojo, Gizmo, Houston, Oreo, Lady Blue, and Chevy!

June 9: Dora enjoyed her playdate. I brought out the baby pool for her. She jumped in as soon as I turned on the water and waited for it to fill up. She likes to bite the water as it comes out of the hose. She was having so much fun it made me want to jump in! The next morning (workday) she promptly jumped in the pool at 7am. During lunch, she played so hard, she tore the plastic and all the water drained out. Poor Dora - no pool now. Her appetite has been hearty. She's almost eaten all her food so I've been mixing my dogs' food in w/ hers. I hope I'm not overfeeding her. She's usually finicky about her food. She's on the bed sleeping as I type this. She's surrounded by 5 Cocker Spaniels. Her humans pick her up tomorrow. I know she'll be sooooo happy to see them.

June 7: Poor Dora!!! Her humans dropped her off and went to Jamaica. Dora loves it here b/c she gets to play and play. Well, this time she is surrounded by 6 Cocker Spaniels!!! The five are either old or don't play. The sixth, my foster Cocker Spaniel, Mojo, is playful but he's going to through heartworm treatment so he can't play. Dora is bored out of her mind. We've been napping this entire weekend. Good news is my coworker is bringing his puppy over today until Thur or Friday. Ernie is a black lab/hound mix so hopefully he plays like Dora. She wants to play chasey chasey games along w/ some wrestling. Stay tuned for some doggie playtime tonight!!

On the subject of heartworms, please give your dog monthly heartworm pills. Heartworm treatment is very expensive and consists of arsenic based injections over months. The dog may not survive. Heartworms are transmitted by mosquitos. The $10 montly pill is nothing compared to what happens once your dog gets heartworms. Without treatment, heartworms will eventually choke the heart and kill the dog.
