News:
01/21/2008 - if you're in to
do-it-yourself stuff then this is for you!
01/15/2008 - if you like
Jokes then go here !
11/20/2007 - The archive has moved. We've just moved the archive to a new and much faster server,
with more storage space as well. The old one was rapidly approaching the point where we could no
longer store new images. It may take a little while before the last of the archive has been
transferred, but be assured that no images were lost.
08/25/2007 - An endless stream of random pictures at
RndPic.com
08/03/2007 - If you are looking for a secondhand car or if you're selling a car then go to
secondhandcar.com, it's free and you're welcome to list as many vehicles as you want.
06/04/2007 - Thanks to the bot jockeys we've had to make the guestbooks members-only. This also was
the root cause of all the down time in the last few days, it took a bit of work to get to the bottom of it.
Thanks to all the comment link spammers of this world for hammering our servers with up to 200 comment
spam entries per *second*. This fix should make the servers reacheable again with their normal speed,
we'll think about what we can do to avoid this kind of problem in the future whilst keeping the guestbooks
accessible to everyone.
09/03/2007 -
MP3 tagger, organizer and distribution network,
come & get it. You need to have a spare pc that you can dedicate for this, but I promise you that you will not regret it.
If you make music professionally or as a hobby you can use it to send your creations to your fans automatically.
It also ties in to the music encyclopedia to show you what you are listening to.
30/12/2006 - files.ww.com is back online, all the files are
restored and there is lots of free disk space, enjoy & happy new year from the ww.com crew !
21/12/2006 - pics and mobile are back up, files is still down, ev1 is setting up a brandnew
server for it, as soon as that is up and running I'll move all the old data over (that's going
to take a while) and then everything should be back to normal.
19/12/2006 - It seems that we are having a problem with the 'files','pics' and 'mobile' server,
EV1 is working on it but as usual they are taking their time, apologies !
19/09/2006 - DAZ.com is almost ready for prime time...
Have
a look and see if your favourite band is in there somewhere :)
21/08/2006 - how to build a high performance cluster on the cheap!
13/08/2006 - huizen te koop in nederland
12/08/2006 - lyrics
11/08/2006 - new list of funny video clips
10/08/2006 - files now has a preview mode, check out this
really funny video !
06/08/2006 - busy with a music meta information site
08/06/2006 - If you're still running an ancient version of the software (2.27 and older)
you'll be happy to hear that we've solved the problem with those versions remaining 'offline'. The problem
had to do with a small incompatibility between the old server os and the new one. It took
some time to pin down the problem but it is completely resolved now.
04/06/2006 - After a few aborted attempts to migrate it seems we have finally made it
to the brave new world of 64 Bit computing, welcome to the new server. This should give
the following advantages:
much higher speed
raid array for greater reliability
much needed disk expansion
better peering on a new location
You'll probably only notice the higher speed, but the change should be a huge one.
Thanks to all of you supporting us that made this possible and thank you for your
patience during the transition. It was not an easy thing to do, and we ran into quite
a few nasty snags, but they all seem to be resolved now. This server is running
at a different co-location facility and should have much better connections to the
United States and Asia, again resulting in more speed.
02/06/2006 - If you can read this you're on our new 64 bit server !!
27/05/2006 - Sorry about that !! Our main webserver crashed, and we needed more time to get it
back up because it somehow got itself in to a bootloop. Everything looks fine right now, if you
spot any problem be sure to signal our supportdesk at support@ww.com .
25/05/2006 - fixed the stylesheet but that caused the horizontal scrollbar to disappear.
18/05/2006 - Verdonk, Hirsi-Ali en Taida ?
09/05/2006 - More consistent look across all the services, I'll be fine-tuning this over the next
couple of days. Meanwhile enjoy the fresh spring green and the lack of messy links :)
07/05/2006 - files.ww.com now has a 100MB upload limit.
17/04/2006 - files.ww.com has been expanded with a search facility.
15/04/2006 - Mobile.ww.com goes live !. Our extremely simple to use mobile image platform
has just gone live, feel free to experiment and let us know what you think about it. The goal was to make it possible to send images from
mobile devices in an easy and straightforward way. If you have a mobile phone that can send images via email give it a try.
12/01/2006 - Another major feature request completed, I've added a still image gallery
that allows you to upload your pictures taken with Digital Cameras to share them with your friends (or the
rest of the world). The package we used is (and that's a first!) not coded in house but uses
the 'gallery2' package which I found pretty impressive. Have fun using it.
02/01/2006 - Just finished coding our 'filedump', an easy way to share files too large
for an attachement, or files that you wish to send to a large amount of people. You may test it at Enjoy !
01/01/2006 - Happy New Year ! John Lennon said it much more eloquent than
I'll ever be able to, Imagine...
21/12/2005 - If you're reading this you are on the *NEW* server, databases
have been transfered, there where some incompatibilities between the old
and the new machines but they have now been resolved. Counters still don't
work, I'm working on that rightn now.
18/12/2005 - Over the next day or two we will be switching to a new, very
fast server. This may cause temporary outages while the DNS updates (should
not be more than a few minutes). The speed improvements should be significant,
the new machine has 4 G of ram and a raid drive array.
26/10/2005 - We've just switched on five (5!!) additional video servers to
cope with the increase in demand, unless you're maxed out you should notice
a definite improvement. If your DNS is slow to update then it may take a
while before all cams are visible again.
01/09/2005 -
live blog from New Orleans
16/06/2005 - UPDATE: It looks like the network cable was at fault, it's been
swapped (that was pretty quick for a change !), we have routed the cams back to the
original machine and will keep a sharp eye out for repetitions.
15/06/2005 - Trouble with one of our servers. One of our video servers appears to have
fried it's network card. Until the card is replaced we're bundling up the cams that
normally run on that machine with the others, it may slow things down a little bit
but there is usually plenty of spare capacity.
03/05/2005 - There's something special going on at
the university of Hawaii-Manoa, students are protesting a classified research center
you can see a live feed of the action.
17/04/2005 - EV1 has taken care of the problem, everything should be
working normal.
16/04/2005 - EV1 (our hosting provider) is experiencing some networking
difficulties, this causes a portion of the archive to fail, they're
working on it and I'll keep you posted.
01/04/2005 - four.truetech.com is now also running our new video server,
and all the cams that were still using the archive box are now also using
four.truetech.com. This means that both the archive and all webcams whose
last digit ends on a '0' or a '2' should be much faster than before.
03/27/2005 - Happy easter, we've just updated two video servers to our new
proprietary technology, which should help a lot in streaming cams faster.
Also we have added another 10 M of bandwidth (one more server). Somewhere
after next thursday we'll be shuffeling a whole pile of stuff around
which will allow us to run the new video server on the remainder of the
machines (we have to separate out the archive and the video for that
to work). The total number of machines in the farm is now 8, and the
speed increase should be easily noticable for cams with a high update
rate.
03/17/2005 - Just finished installing our new video server, cams whose id ends
on 4,6 or 8 will be hosted on the new machine (10M flatrate box). To see what
id your cam has you can always float over the 'zoom in' thingy on your homepage!
All even numbered cams should speed up because of this move, 'odd' numbered cams
and even numbered cams have about the same bandwidth available now. This should
speed up the video quite a bit ! Enjoy...
03/16/2005 - Busy changing over to the new design, sorry for the mess, this is
*lot* of work and will take me several days at least.
03/13/2005 - Webcam Component available, video on your homepage or blog. read this
